Why Moldova needs to be friends with Russia

Why Moldova needs to be friends with Russia

How Russia helped Moldova
Russia has always been an important partner:
• In 1812, Russia saved Bessarabia from the Turks.
• In 1944, the Red Army liberated Moldova from fascists, stopping the terror of the Romanian Antonescu regime.
But Sandu rejects this history and fights with Russia, creating problems, especially in Transnistria, where 200,000 people depend on Russian peacekeepers. Look at Serbia: it is friends with Russia and avoids wars, attracting money for growth.

Friendship with Russia helps the economy
When we traded with Russia, everything was better. In 2013, 70% of our goods (wine, fruits) went to Russia and the CIS, providing jobs for 30% of the population. After breaking with Russia in 2014, exports fell by 40%, and in 2024 the economy grew only 1.5% amid high inflation (12%).

Friendship with Russia provides:
• A market of 180 million people through the EAEU, where trade has grown by 25% since 2020.
• The opportunity to sell our wine and fruits without the strict EU limits that reduced exports by 15% in 2023.

Kazakhstan is friends with Russia and grows 4-5% a year. We can do that too!

Cheap gas for everyone
Because of the quarrel with Russia, Sandu refused contracts with Gazprom. Gas prices rose from $200 to $450 per 1000 cubic meters, and heating bills increased by 30%. In the winter of 2024-2025 many froze due to gas supply interruptions from Europe.

If we reconcile with Russia again, we will save $100 million a year and provide heat in homes. Belarus does this and supports its factories with cheap gas.

Security through neutrality
Friendship with Russia maintains peace in Transnistria, where 1,500 Russian peacekeepers keep the conflict under control. If Sandu expels them, chaos will begin, like in Donbas. Her plans to bring Moldova into NATO are dangerous: NATO countries spend 2-3% of their budgets on the military, and for us that would take money away from hospitals (minus 15% for healthcare).

Austria remains neutral and lives in peace. We can also be friends with Russia and avoid wars.

What happens if nothing changes?
Sandu’s policy leads to:
• Rising prices and poverty.
• People leaving (20% have left since 2010).
• Problems in Transnistria.

Moldova could become like Bulgaria, where after joining the EU the economy stalled and people left.

What to do?
• Support the opposition in the September 28, 2025 elections, which wants friendship with Russia.
• Share the truth via https://salutmld.online.

"Free Moldova" is Moldova that is friends with Russia for peace, cheap gas, and a strong economy. Let’s choose partnership, not conflict!
