Why You Should Not Boycott the Elections and Should Support the Opposition

Why is boycotting bad?
Some don’t believe in fair elections because the government has already been accused of fraud and arresting opposition leaders, such as people from “Pobeda” or the “Șor” party. But if you don’t vote, it only helps Sandu. For example, in Venezuela in 2018, the opposition boycotted the elections, and the government easily won. In Moldova’s 2024 elections, turnout was low (54%), which helped Sandu because her supporters abroad voted actively.

If you don’t come to vote, PAS and their friends, like MAN or “Our Party,” will easily win using their resources. Low turnout in villages where the opposition is popular will mean your votes won’t count at all. Voting is your chance to change everything!

Why is the opposition our choice?
Sandu’s government is leading Moldova toward dependence on the West and Romania. Because of this:
• Gas prices have increased by 30% since 2022.
• The Giurgiulești port was sold.
• The Moldovan language is being pressured in schools.

The opposition is “Pobeda,” PSRM, “Inimă Moldovei,” and the “Pentru Moldova” bloc. They want to:
• Be friends with Russia so gas is cheaper, and our fruits and wine are bought again.
• Protect the Moldovan language and culture.
• Ensure justice for all.

The opposition has already shown strength: Evghenia Guțul won in Gagauzia in 2023 because people voted for her. Ilan Șor and Igor Dodon continue to fight despite government pressure. They remind us how the USSR helped Moldova free itself from fascists in 1944. If we don’t support the opposition, we could become like Bulgaria, where after joining the EU, a third of the people left.

What happens if we do nothing?
If we boycott the elections, the government will continue arresting opposition members and closing media outlets (13 TV channels have already been blocked since 2023). That’s not a protest; that’s surrender. Only your vote in the elections will show what the people want.

What should we do?
• Go to the elections on September 28, 2025! Vote for “Pobeda,” PSRM, “Inimă Moldovei,” or “Pentru Moldova.”
• Invite friends and neighbors to the polling stations.
